The evaporation zone of the glove boxes system contains a Joule effect evaporator. The material to be deposited is placed in a crucible that is warmed until evaporation of the material which is then deposited on the substrate.

Like most of the equipments of the platform, the evaporator is included in a service activity open to other laboratories and to companies. Applications can be simply sent by e-mail.

   Technical characteristics

  • Brand Kurt J. Lesker, model Mini-Spectros
  • Sources:
    • 2 crucibles for metals (Al, Ag, MoO3, LiF, Ca, Ni, Au...)
    • 1 Knudsen cell for organic materials
  • Deposition thickness: variable depending on the deposited material, checked by a quartz balance
  • Size of the samples: 20 mm wide
  • Maximal number of samples: 9
  • Vacuum before deposition: up to 10-7 mbar
  • Vacuum during deposition: 2-6·10-6 mbar
Evaporator of the glove box
Sample holder for the evaporator of the glove box

Main uses

  • metallic contacts
  • inorganic buffer layers
  • layers of small organic molecules
  • ...

Masks

Depending on needs, different types of masks can be conceived and realised by laser cutting (resolution 150 µm).

Masks solar cells Masks Fraunhofer transistors Masks drifted contacts for 4 tips measurements Masks transistors of differente sizes
