Donor/acceptor bulk heterojunction organic photovoltaic cell
Donor/acceptor bulk heterojunction organic photovoltaic cells of various gaps

Head: Daniel MATHIOT, Contact

Applications: Organic photovoltaic cells; Organic field effect transistors; Transistors for chemical sensors; Optical valves

The main equipment of the platform dedicated to organic electronics consists of two systems of interconnected glove boxes. The first system of glove box is dedicated to the elaboration and the characterisation of organic photovoltaic cells, and the other to the elaboration and the characterisation of other electronic devices.

The inert atmosphere which prevails in the glove boxes avoids the degradation of materials that are sensitive to ambient air, in particular to water and oxygen.

In these boxes, a regulation system permanently maintains a nitrogen atmosphere in slight overpressure. So, the water and oxygen concentrations are lower than 5 ppm in current operating.

For each system two decompression chambers having a different diameter (15 and 40 cm) allow to enter and take out samples and more cumbersome equipments.

The system of elaboration and characterisation of organic photovoltaic cells is divided into three zones, each devoted to a particular use:

  • an elaboration zone for the preparation of the solutions and the spin-coating of polymers or small molecules
  • an evaporation zone for the vacuum deposition of organic or inorganic layers
  • a characterisation zone for the study of optical and electrical properties of organic photovoltaic cells
Glove boxes

The system of elaboration and characterisation of other electronic devices (OFETs, SCLC devices...) is divided into two zones:

  • an elaboration zone for the preparation of the solutions and the doctor blade deposition of polymers or small molecules
  • a characterisation zone for the study of electrical properties of these devices

Insofar as possible, a service activity is carried out for other laboratories or companies. The list of possible uses being not exhaustive, it is recommended to contact us for any application, even not mentioned, as far as it is compatible with the technical characteristics of the equipments. Applications can be simply sent by e-mail.
